ABOUT

Studio Kunukku honors, curates, and creates new designs through age-old techniques and slow-fashion methods. Beginning with interpreting Syrian designs, we cast light on the rich history of the region and the importance of cultural heritage passed through generations.

Beyond our projects, we engage with diverse communities as a part of the complex social fabric of Beirut. By exploring what was once lost and to be re-found, we work with these communities to tell stories of traditions and cultures of colorful yet faraway homelands. We bring back a lost craft to life and by doing so, empower youth who wish to learn and work with the crafts of their ancestors.

The Studio has a network of local artisan partners both in Lebanon and in Syria, who are skilled in crafts including weaving, embroidery, natural dyeing, and woodcarving.
